LaTrae Consulting Group is recruiting field service technicians for a growing power generation service company in the area. Privately held, long established in the Northeast standby power market, and one of the few service companies in the region that runs its own in-house technician training program instead of poaching everyone else's.
These are added seats, not backfills. New customer work is landing now and they are building headcount to cover it. Direct hire, on their payroll, from day one.
We do not publish our client's name. Call me and I will tell you who it is, what the shop is actually like, and who you would be working for.
This is an entry level seat on the generator side. It is not an entry level seat on the tools.
They will teach you the generator specifics: the controls, the transfer switches, the load bank work, the paralleling side further down the road. What they will not teach you is how to turn a wrench or read a meter. You need to arrive with mechanical hands already, either on gensets or on diesel engines.
The Philadelphia territory is pharma, health systems, water treatment, and a data center footprint that keeps growing. Work stays inside about 90 minutes of the metro, so you are home at night.
You need one of these two. A general trade background on its own is not enough for this seat.
Either way, you also need:
A plus: EGSA, trade school or an apprenticeship, military technical training such as 12P, 91D, or marine engineman, and any exposure to Kohler, Cummins or Onan, Generac, Caterpillar, or Deep Sea and ComAp controls.
Automotive lube, tire, and quick-service work on its own does not carry over. Neither does general facilities or building maintenance with no engine or genset time. If your hands-on has been light vehicle service, this is not the seat, and I would rather tell you that now than waste your afternoon.
They run their own field service training program: classroom, hands on, and supervised field work. The path from C to B is defined, the company pays for the certifications, and the techs above you came up the same way.
We are running this search directly with the company's operations leadership. Your resume goes to a person, not a portal, and you get an answer either way.
Call me and we will go through who the client is, the territory, the on-call, and the numbers straight up. Confidential from the first conversation, and nothing goes to the client without your say-so.
